THE LOT OPEN AND THE GROUND STILL WORKABLE
Land Clearing Services in Mechanicsburg, PA
Clearing a lot is the easy part. Clearing it in a way that leaves the ground workable afterward is what separates a job you can build on from a job you have to fix first: debris buried where it will settle, topsoil stripped off with the brush, ruts cut into wet ground by machines that were too heavy for the conditions.
We handle light land clearing across Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill, Enola, Dillsburg, and the surrounding Cumberland County communities. We bring our own operator, a mini excavator and a skid steer with the attachments the lot calls for, and our own dump truck, which means you are hiring the work finished rather than renting a machine and figuring out the rest of it yourself.
“The Red Rock team is professional, friendly and have easy positive attitudes. This project included my front and side yard which had become very overgrown and hard to keep up with. They worked with the design and suggestions I had and tweaked them with a few improvements that I had not thought of. The work was completed in a timely manner. The result is amazing and beautiful. I would recommend this team to anyone.”

WHEN LAND CLEARING IS THE RIGHT CALL
The most common reasons homeowners and builders come to us:
A lot that needs opening up before construction — brush and small trees cleared back so a building site is actually workable
An overgrown section of the property that has gotten past the point where a weekend and a rented machine will fix it
Reclaiming ground for something specific — a shed, a pad, a wider yard, a new bed
Storm damage and deadfall left across an area that needs to be cleared and hauled away
WHAT LIGHT LAND CLEARING COVERS
Every lot is different, and we set the exact scope when we walk it with you. Most jobs come in around the following:
Brush and undergrowth removal
Small tree clearing
Opening a lot so a building site is workable
Loading and hauling the debris off the property in our dump truck
Stumps left in the ground are a separate service, and we can price the grinding at the same visit rather than sending you to someone else for it. Our project minimum is $625.
WHAT A BADLY CLEARED LOT COSTS YOU LATER
Most of the trouble with a cleared lot shows up months later, not on the day the brush comes down. Debris that gets pushed into a low spot and covered over will settle, and whatever goes on top of it settles with it. Topsoil dragged off with the brush leaves a surface that will not grow anything without being amended. Heavy machines run across saturated ground leave ruts and compaction that have to be regraded before the next trade can work.
We have been reading soil and managing grade on this ground since 2001, because that is what sits underneath every paver patio and retaining wall we build. The same judgment applies here: matching the machine to the conditions, keeping the debris moving off site instead of into a hole, and leaving the surface in a state the next stage of your project can actually start from.
WHO SHOWS UP
Dave walks every property himself before you are given a number, so the estimate is built on what is actually out there rather than a guess made over the phone. You will have a detailed estimate within three business days of that visit. Once the December schedule opens, most jobs go on the calendar within a week or two of you approving the estimate. The crew that arrives on the day is Red Rock's own crew running Red Rock's own machines, which is the same crew that has been working on properties across Cumberland County since 2001.
